What a morning!…

2010

Well, finally the school holidays have finished!  Day 2 for my little boy starting his big school (primary school) and this morning was a challenge to say the least!

After finally prising him from my car we entered the school gates, slowly but surely we made our way to the classroom but just as we got to the door my son decided he wasn’t going to school today and that was that!

I went into the classroom and explained to the teacher that he was refusing to come in and that’s when it all got slightly out of hand!  My son became hysterical, I started to fill up and it was awful!  Eventually my son was prised away from me, I received lots of hugs from my friends in the school corridor and as I walked away from the classroom I realised that my little horror bags had in fact stopped crying and it was actually only me now who was left crying like a baby!

So as I write this blog today I have come to the conclusion that I deserve a pamper today, I am going to sit at my desk in a facemask for the next half an hour whilst I work away (much to the rest of the office’s amusement!) I have chosen the Dr Haushcka Cleansing Clay Masque  (for full affect and maximum impact on the rest of my work colleagues) and then I am going to spray some Primavera Good Mood Air spray,  and basically “chillax” (my daughter’s word of the week!) myself  ready for the 3.25pm collection, where I will greet my son with his favourite snack bar, (after all it is the weekend) as if all else fails chocolate is always guaranteed to put a smile on his face!

Who Is Suki?

Suki Kramer - Founder Of Suki SkincareSuki Kramer is the founder of Suki Advanced Skincare. A former freelance writer, and a former eczema sufferer, her desire was to create 100% natural treatments that truly worked and which would actually solve everyday skincare issues.

She had always been interested in researching how our body absorbs different ingredients from the food we eat to the products we use on our skin and after realising their was a gap in market for products that were not onlytruly natural but actually did work aswell, she set about forming Suki Skincare, afterall she felt if she was looking for these products then there were probaly thousands of  other women looking aswell and” boy oh boy” was she right!

She prides herself on the fact that Suki Skincare products are active, clinically-proven, results-driven cosmeceuticals…a concept that is sometimes difficult for people to understand. Many people think you can’t have efficacy & purity in one product & that’s simply not the case anymore. The evolution of good scientific formulation is that you SHOULD be able to have a good quality product that includes 100% purity with 100% results.  She believes no one should demand less for themselves.

After years of collaboration with cosmetic chemists & traditional herbalists, Suki’s vision to create innovative safe & effective treatments with cutting-edge scientific actives using  natural & organic bases eventually came to life and Suki Advanced Organic Skincare was formed.

The first products she created were the velvet moisturizing cream, exfoliate foaming cleanserdelicate hydrating oil & butter cream healing salve. She began in her kitchen but has progressed to the whats now called the  “suki® organic innovation lab™”. She is still the sole formulator, but Suki now have a complete manufacturing & distribution facility where the suki® products are blended & shipped fresh to ensure the integrity of each formulation.

Since the company’s inception & incorporation in 2002, it has doubled in size each year.  They have expanded their product range, & suki® products are now sold globally in over 1,000 doors including spas, boutiques & specialty natural stores including Harvey Nichols, Eva Scrivo & Whole Foods and “yes” Suki Kramer is still very much invololved on a daily basis and still works hard in their research and testing labatory as opposed to in her kitchen where it all began….

DIY Facial….

Beauty OK’s Diy Facial

With all the best intentions in the world, you may still never quite find the time to book yourself into your local spa for a facial. Well don’t worry at BeautyOK we understand this only too well, we have put together a DIY Facial with a little guidance from a few experts.

Room Preperation:  (optional, but oh so worth the effort)

Light some candles (children need to be out of the room for obvious reasons)  load the c.d player with your favourite chill out music (we like dolphin music) or alternatively pick a relxing music channel from the t.v or radio and really create an atmosphere like that of your local spa.

Choose you favourite brand of facial products and begin…..

Step 1: Cleanse

Using any one of our fabulous ranges of facial products, start by removing any make-up from your face, even if you don’t have make-up your skin will still benefit from a cleanse, as unfortunately our faces tend to attract all kinds of dust during the day and you may be surprised at the grime that your face may have on it!

Use a small amount (say a 10p piece size) of your chosen cleansing lotion onto a moist cotton pad (using water to moisten the cotton pad will mean you will use less of your cleansing lotion and also creates a fantastic fresh feeling).  Sweep the pad from the middle edge of your face out towards the outer edge of your face.  Repeat this process until your cotton pads are completely clean.

Step 2: Option 1 -  Steam time….

Add approximately 5ml of your chosen toner to a bowl of steamy hot water, as hot as your hands can bear. Rinse a clean muslin cloth in the mixture, wring out, then lay muslin cloth flat over your face. The heat will  immediately relax your facial muscles, it will also stimulate your skin circulation and improve the absorption of ingredients.

NB:Anyone with a medical skin condition should be cautious about steam treatments, as heat may aggravate the problem. Take a few purifying breaths while the cloth gently cools.

Step 2: Option 2 (Exfoliating)

If you have the extra time you can actually use both options of Step 2, it really depends on the time allowed…

Select your favourite exfoliator and follow the directions as per your chosen product

Step 3: Massage

Before you start this massage process we need to make sure you are fully relaxed so try this technique and see if you can’t rid your body of any tension.

Shrug your shoulders up high and then release, repeat this process a few times until you feel like you are finally relaxing.

Choose you favourite facial oil,  maybe lie back on a comfy bed and apply a thin layer of oil over the face and neck, using light, sweeping movements with the pads of your fingers, work with the facial muscles: from the centre of the face outwards and slightly upwards, arching around the eyes, and upwards on the neck and décolletage. The sensuous stroking movements awaken circulation and give skin a feeling of wellbeing. DO NOT REMOVE THIS OIL

Step 4: Masque & Chill Out

This has to be the best bit!

Choose your favourite facial masque from our fabulous range and over the top of the your oil, that should now be resembling a beautiful sheen, apply your facial masque, by applying the masque over the top of your facial oil, this will make sure your complexion will be given the best boost possible.

Following the instructions of your chosen masque leave for the desired time and relax.

We recommend setting a timer for this step as you may be feeling sleepy at this stage of the facial!

Step 5 : Tone

Using your washed out (from step 1) muslin cloth, gently wash off your masque with cool water.

Take a fresh cotton pad and soak in some water, then using your chosen facial toner use gentle sweeping movements to gently freshen your face.  You can always use 2 hands and 2 cotton pads for this process, 1 for each cheek and pretend you are a professional!

Step 6 : Moisturise

The final step of your facial is to make sure you that you lock in the moisture and with your chosen BeautyOK moisture cream you can do this by placing your cream into the palms of your hands and gently patting the cream onto your skin until you feel you have patted all areas of your face

For best results leave a few hours before applying make-up or better still give your face a day off from your make-up and be “au natural” for the day!.

Race For Life …..

Race For Life Sunday 13th June 2010 - 10KM next!

I would just like to mention my daughter on this blog today, she walked with myself and a few other friends on the “Race for Life”on Sunday morning at the Chester Racecourse.

Is wasn’t so much the fact that she walked 5km that surprised me, (as she is a pretty active young girl), but the fact that she got up on a Sunday morning and didnt winge or moan once, she walked round the course and chatted to lots of different people and I just want  to say “well done Livs!”   As we doing the walk along side a very close friend of ours, janet, for her late husband and our close friend - David,  it made me all the more proud of her!
