Wednesday 12th August – Don’t forget your sunscreen!

Booked your last minute holiday ? -  Don’t forget your suncreen, before you hit the beach! & when the sun goes down and you are enjoying your glass of sangria, don’t forget to pack Lavera’s Silky Shimmer Lotion, sure to make you stand out amongst the crowd and shimmer the night away!

Did you know Lavera are the only company based in the UK to be selling natural sunscreen EU approved, this year?

Let us tell you the story:

The EU Commission and Colipa ,( who are those lovely people who represent the interests of the cosmetic industry )  have collaborated to change the labelling of sun protection products following the Commission’s recommendation to create greater safety for consumers!

As a result, the availabilty of mineral sunscreens has been severly curtailed for 2009 due to the reformualtions required to meet the new 1:3 UVA:UVB sun protection benchmark, 2010, so this has posed a question , is mineral sunscreen able to meet the new requirements? In Lavera’s case, the answer is “Yes”

Lavera have been working extra hard this year ( those busy workers may be needing a bonus this year, me thinks!) to reformulate their products, which have undergone thorough examination. Their inhouse tests have confirmed that the new sunscreens are even easier to apply, they are more easily absorbed by the skin and that “i have just been blasted with white paint look” has definately been reduced!  shuuks , I love that part when I put it on my husband and he is oblivious!  Never mind, to cut this very long story short (read below if you are still awake!)  Lavera have come up trumps and are the 1st Mineral Suncare Range to have passed these vigorous tests – “Yay” to Lavera and thanks for looking after us!

So to continue the story:

Zinc oxide has been reintroduced in the new formulations, which alongside titanium dioxide, acts as a natural sunlight reflector.  The quality of zinc oxide has improved considerably in recent years with a UVA reflection capacity far exceeding titanium dioxide.  Both minerals are coated with Stearic Acid (derived from coconut oil) rendering the particles inactive i.e they cannot penetrate the skin into the blood stream.  The lotions also contain skin-caring organic kiwi fruit, agave, and pineapple extracts, organic aloe vera gel, vitamins A, C and E, and sweet almond and jojoba oils,  sounds good enough to drink, not recommended though, best off sticking to our “Superfoods Recipes” for that part of your regime!
