 Spirulina powder can be sprinkled directly on food to enhance its nutritional content or mixed with water or fruit juice for a quick energy-boosting drink. Alternatively try one of our simple Spirulina recipes.
Spirulina Smoothie (no2)               
  
 
                 Spirulina Smoothie

      250g fresh or frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries or raspberries)
      1 banana
      500ml milk
      1-2 tsp Spirel Spirulina powder
      Mix all ingredients in a blender until smooth
 

 

 
 
         500ml vegetable juice (or carrot or tomato juice)
         1tsp Spirel spirulina powder
         Optional: add a dash of worcester or tabasco sauce
 
           Spirulina  Muesli (serves4)

       330g oatmeal or barley flakes
       2¼ cups water,  juice & grated rind of 1 lemon
       4 tbsp. Evaporated milk, 3 dessert apples
        honey to taste
       1½ tbsp. Spirulina
1. Soak oatmeal or barley flakes in water overnight before serving
2. Add lemon juice & grated rind
3. Stir
4. Add milk, stir, grate in apples including skin and core and stir to avoid discolouration.
5. Add honey to taste
6. Add  Spirulina and stir before serving
 
          Spirulina Facemask

        1 ripe avocado
        2 tsp  Spirulina powder
       Mash the avocado and mix in the Spirel Spirulina powder. Apply to the face. Leave for 15-20 mins then rinse off with cool water.
 
          Spirulina popcorn
       100g pre-popped popcorn
        Knob of melted butter
       1/2 tsp Chilli powder
        1 tsp of Spirulina powder 
   
Add all the ingredients to the popcorn in a large bowl or bag, then toss or shake until the popcorn is coated.
 
    Pancakes – (10-12 pancakes)
    200ml milk
    75ml water
    110g plain or wholemeal flour
    2 large eggs
    50g butter
    Pinch of salt
     Whisk all ingredients together until smooth.
     Heat butter in a frying pan.
     Pour 2-3 tbsp of the pancake batter into the pan.
     Tilt the pan to coat the bottom evenly with batter. 
     Cook until light brown – aprox 2 mins each side.
     Keep warm in the oven while the filling is prepared.
Filling
200g fresh spinach
50g butter
200ml crème fraiche
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp salt
½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 tsbp  Spirulina powder
200g freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Drop spinach in boiling water for 1-2 mins then drain and chop.
Heat butter in frying pan.
Add spinach, salt, pepper, nutmeg and fry for 1-2 mins.
Stir in the crème fraiche,  spirulina powder and Parmesan cheese.
Remove from heat.
Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of filling into each pancake.
Roll up and serve
Ingredients
x1 ripe banana
x1 cup of apple, orange or other favorite juice
x1 teaspoon (or more) of Spirulina powder
Method
Blend all ingredient together until mixed well
 
Ingredients
2 avocados, pinch cayenne pepper, Fresh lime juice to taste, 2 chopped medium tomatoes, 2 cloves crushed garlic, salt to taste, 1 teaspoon Spirulina.
Method
Add all ingredients to blender and blend well. Serve with crudités or corn chips.
Spirulina gives guacamole a stunning colour.
 
 
** With recipes that require cooking try to heat Spirel Spirulina as little as possible to maintain its nutritional properties.
 

 

 
All I have to say about maca is WOW! This really is amazing stuff. I found the taste strong at first, but when you try these recipes you will find hot chocolate goes well with it.
 
Milky "the maca" Way
1 1/4 cup Vanilla Soy Milk
1 heaping teaspoon of maca powder
heat soy milk in a saucepan, add maca, blend with hand blender (I use an immersible hand blender) until frothy. pour into cup.
very rich, creamy, frothy and delicious!

Vanilla Maca
mix 2 days at a time in a blender.

2 1/2 cups of milk
3 Tsp. Vanilla
4 Tsp. Sugar
6 Tsp. Maca
put it in a sealed container in the refrigerator. 

Almond Maca 
 Add some Cranberry juice, some almond milk, frozen rasberries, a banana and the maca, blitz and serve - yum!

SNACKS
You can put in -yogurt-cottage cheese-sour cream- other non-dairy products of the like
-granola- oatmeal-hot cereals-cooked grains-

SMOOTHIES AND SHAKES
In a blender, mix Maca with fruit, yogurt, and/or juice

Maca Cream
Maca Powder (to your taste)
Ice Cream (Soy, Rice or Dairy)
Milk (Soy, Rice or Dairy-add to desired shake consistency)

BEVERAGES 


You can add Maca to coffee,  favorites are coffee alternative drinks with Maca added for the malty flavor.


You can add Maca with hot chocolate, yummy! add Maca to your tea

Maca can be added to fruit or vegetable juices any shop bought preprepared fruit smoothies (to save time!)


Maca adds body to your drink or food. The root powder stirs and dissolves in easily to what you are already making.

Cook Maca with grains, like rice. Sprinkle on food, such as salads. Add Maca to salad dressings.

Bake with Maca. Add to ingredients of cakes, muffins, and breads. Include Maca in your grains, like rice. It can be spinkled on food to your liking.
